What is CodeMark

Safe-R Insulation is proud to have achieved CodeMark certification for its CosyWall Insulation System.

“Obtaining CodeMark for our CosyWall system is the culmination of 15 years research and development,” says General manager Wade Maurice.

“It will enable a streamlined consent process, providing significant time and cost savings, resulting in more warm and healthy New Zealand homes”.

At Safe-R it’s about more than just the product. From the first assessment of a house, through to a post assessment confirming that everything has been done correctly, as well as helping with council paperwork, the CodeMark certification covers the entire process.

To obtain certification quality of the insulation material had to be thoroughly demonstrated and documentation and installation had to meet exacting standards. It doesn’t just finish there as annual audits are undertaken to ensure that standards are maintained.

What is CodeMark?

CodeMark is a voluntary product certification system which was developed by the Australian Building Codes Board in consultation with the New Zealand Department of Building and Housing. It’s now administered by the Ministry of Business, Inovation and Employment.

It provides an easily-understood and robust way to show that a product or system meets the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code.

Legislation requires building control authorities to accept CodeMark certified products giving building owners and designers confidence in the product and providing a smooth compliance pathway.

The scheme supports the use of new and innovative building products by providing a nationally and internationally accepted process for products to be assessed for compliance with the requirements of the building codes of Australia and New Zealand.

What does CodeMark mean for the homeowner?

Briefly, CodeMark certification means:

  • the product meets Building Code performance requirements,
  • ensures it is capable of performing as intended, and
  • streamlines the building consent and inspection process.

Code Mark is an unchallengeable form of product assurance. Building consent authorities (usually councils) must accept a product certificate as evidence of compliance with the Building Code.

As a result, the building consent proces should be simpler, faster and cheaper.

All products or systems that go through the Code Mark process are exhaustively tested, analysed, then peer reviewed. Knowing the CosyWall Insulation System has the highest form of product assurance in New Zealand and Australia guarantees peace of mind.
